Future Professions: Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots

The program “Future Professions: Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots” was organized on 24.06.2026 in Burdur Republic Square as part of the Science Cafe Meetings by the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Science Communication Coordination. Faculty of Arts and Sciences, faculty members of the Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots department Assoc. Prof. İlker ÜNAL, Dr. Faculty Member Tahsin UYGUN, Dr. Faculty Member Mete Yiğit, I-TECH robotics CEO Ferdi ALAKUŞ, and department students Kerem ARIER and Zeynep Asena TEKİN participated as speakers in the event.
In the interview, Department Head Assoc. Prof. İlker ÜNAL emphasized Article 489 of the Presidential 12th Development Plan, stating that in the coming years, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and data-driven business models will become widespread in smart agriculture applications, that the human and technical infrastructures of agricultural enterprises and producer organizations regarding smart agriculture applications will develop, and that the domestic production of software and equipment in this field will be supported. He also stated that the leaders of our country have defined the professions needed in the agricultural sector for their future visions in the development plan and that the Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots department could be seen among the future professions for this vision. I-TECH robotics CEO Ferdi ALAKUŞ stated that the agricultural robots sector is a rapidly growing sector in our country, and that due to the Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots department having a multidisciplinary education model in agriculture, mechanics, electronics, and software, it will provide great opportunities for graduates in the future and will respond to the need for trained personnel in this field.
